| Description | CAROLYN JANUSZ is an associate lawyer at Black Gropper. Carolyn practices in the area of workplace law, working with Black Gropper’s lawyers to represent trade unions and associations, as well as non-unionized employers and employees in the areas of labour, employment, human rights and workers compensation law.Carolyn provides practical, strategic advice in issues surrounding all aspects of the employment relationship from hiring, discipline, professional standards, disability management, performance management, through to termination. She is a strong negotiator and strategic litigator when assisting her clients to reach favorable resolutions of disputes including wrongful dismissals, human rights complaints, employment standards complaints, employment contract interpretation disputes, and worker’s compensation issues. She also advises her clients in proactively minimizing risks and costs by the preparation and negotiation of employment contracts, manuals and policies.Carolyn completed her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Ontario, and a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies at American University in Washington, D.C. While completing her Bachelor of Laws, Carolyn was granted a summer internship at the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, where she worked on the 2007 Global Report on Equality in the Workplace. She has also held a position in the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s Summer Co-Op Program, where she worked to provide advocacy and legal research for the Ministry of Labour and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. Prior to joining Black Gropper, Carolyn articled and practiced labour law with a firm in Toronto.Carolyn Janusz has joined the executive of the Labour Law section of Canadian Bar Association BC Branch. |
