| Description | Cindy is an associate in the Municipal, Land Use Planning, and Development Law Group at Loopstra Nixon LLP. She represents a broad cross-section of public and private sector clients on a variety of municipal law matters throughout the province.
Cindy is involved in numerous planning matters including appeals to the Ontario Municipal Board relating to issues such as official plans, rezoning, severances, subdivisions and minor variances. She also advises clients with respect to heritage matters, environmental matters, expropriation, and municipal by-law enforcement and compliance. Cindy articled with Loopstra Nixon LLP and joined the firm as an associate after her call to the bar in 2016. Prior to law school, she studied Political Science at the University of Toronto, graduating with high distinction. During law school, Cindy served on the Executive for the Law & Politics Club, and received an award for advocacy through her involvement in the University’s various legal clinics, including the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Studies, Pro Bono Students Canada, and the Downtown Legal Services Tenant Housing division. In her spare time, Cindy enjoys powerlifting, trying out new wineries, and watching the Jays. |

We engaged Loopstra Nixon to defend us and to file a summary judgment motion and counter-claim against the plaintiff. The work by Ian Scarlett and Christopher Lee was exemplary. Chris won two pre-trial motions at the Welland hearing within 10 minutes and the plaintiff was reeling. We had excellent seats as we watched the judge agree with everything Chris said all day. The plaintiff never had a chance, and the formal ruling issued within 10 days was a welcome formality.
