Description Jill’s practice focuses on protecting the rights of RCMP Members involved in labour relations processes, and the just resolution of workplace harassment complaints.

Called to the Ontario Bar in 2002, Jill has been providing legal advice on policing, the RCMP, and federal sector labour relations matters since 2005. Formerly legal counsel at the RCMP External Review Committee, and in-house counsel at York Regional Police, she first began working alongside police officers during her articles with the Kingston Crown Attorney’s office.

In 2015, Jill completed a Master of Laws degree with a focus on issues in policing, and a major research paper that examined the impacts of the 2014 RCMP Act amendments on the rights of RCMP Members.

As in-house counsel with York Regional Police, Jill provided legal advice in all aspects of policing, prosecuted Police Services Act disciplinary offences, developed and delivered legal education training to officers, ensured legal compliance of police policies and procedures, and dealt with complex freedom of information and privacy matters.

Jill also spent two years at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada advising on grievances, harassment and human rights complaints, and workplace investigations.

In addition to her police law practice, Jill assists individuals in Ontario with either filing or responding to workplace harassment complaints, and working toward just resolutions.
