I met the Goldblatt lawyers in 2018 in the challenge to Bill 5 of the Doug Ford provincial government which violated the Toronto election and the City’s right to determine its own system of local governance. In an unbelievably short time, the team of lawyers from Goldblatt Partners were able to interview us and put together an amazing defence about the rights of residents and citizens to effective representation. The lawyers worked overtime, did a phenomenal amount of research and mounted an effective defence for the right to voice and political representation. This is especially important for us in terms of getting diverse women elected to Council. Their commitment to a progressive rights-based democracy is a critical contribution to Canada. Amazing lawyers indeed!
