| Description | Ranjan’s practice is focused on complex disputes, including class action, commercial, arbitration, constitutional, and employment matters. He has appeared as lead or co-counsel in over 15 cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also briefed and argued numerous cases in Federal Court, Ontario and across Canada, and provides strategic advice to companies, organizations, and individuals at all stages of complex litigation. Ranjan recently acted for Bureau Veritas SA, a publically-traded multinational testing agency, in the successful dismissal of a $2 billion class action. He is also counsel to Luxtona LLC in Canadian litigation with the Russian Federation arising from the breakup of Yukos oil company.In its national rankings, Lexpert Magazine, Benchmark Canada and Chambers Canada have all recognized Ranjan as a future or rising star in dispute resolution. Among other recognitions, Precedent magazine, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association have recognized him for his pro bono and community service. In 2015, Canadian Lawyer magazine recognized Ranjan as one its Top 25 Most Influential lawyers.Ranjan is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto, and co-author of Class Actions Law and Practice. While it turns out I didn't need legal representation, when I spoke with Michael Lickver I knew I was getting an honest answer. I feared a huge bill for a single question (Hollywood jokes mixed with personal stereotyping!). I ended up getting excellent direction and true concern from Michael. If I were ever in need of a lawyer - there isn't anyone else I would call. Don't base your choice of lawyers on a Google review...people will laugh at you but do use this review as a reason to call and ask for Michael. He will then give you plenty of reasons to continue with Bennet Jones.
