| Description | REBECCA L. KLASS joined Black Gropper as an associate lawyer in March 2017, practicing in the areas of labour, employment, and human rights law. Rebecca is committed to working on behalf of unions and employees to protect and advance their rights. She provides constructive advice on all areas of the employment relationship, in both unionized and non-unionized contexts. This includes the negotiation and administration of collective agreements, grievance processing and arbitration, wrongful dismissals, employment standards, employment contracts and manuals, and human rights issues.Rebecca completed her Law Degree at the University of Manitoba. During her legal studies, she followed and advanced her interest in social justice and human rights. Rebecca volunteered with the University of Manitoba’s Legal Aid office, where she represented low-income clients on various criminal matters. She also served as the Head of Research to the University of Manitoba’s Student Advocates for Justice, overseeing multiple access to justice projects. Working with Pro-Bono Students Canada, Rebecca conducted research on family equality and provided presentations for an LGBTQ community center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Rebecca also received a research grant to study discrepancies in the criminal sentencing of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Outside of her legal studies, Rebecca has extensive experience working with community groups advocating on behalf of individuals with illnesses and disabilities. Prior to joining Black Gropper, Rebecca summered, articled, and practiced in the civil litigation department at a full service firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba. |
