Description Sania is pleased to offer her clients assistance in immigration, family, wills and estates, and employment law matters.Sania received her BA in Psychology and a Sociology in 2014 and her law degree with a Social Justice Specialization in 2017 at the University of British Columbia. Prior to attending law school, she worked in social science research on marginalized youth health and volunteered with a food bank and a legal advocacy non-profit, focusing on family, human rights, and employment law, assisting marginalized women and underprivileged students.During law school, Sania volunteered at the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program in immigration law, employment law, and civil matters. She was among 8 students chosen among a large pool of applicants to join UBC’s International Justice and Human Rights Clinic focusing on international human rights and criminal law. Sania also led a team of editors at three different legal journals: the UBC Law Review, Canadian Journal of Family Law, and UBC International Law Journal. She also worked at the Workers’ Compensation Board of BC where she published a total of 121 decision over two summers. She has also published academic papers and research in peer-reviewed journals ongoing racialization and colonization in the law, power dynamics, policies in the education policies for LGBTQ youth, the development of the law on equal division of matrimonial property, issues with the legal aid system, and the Missing Women Inquiry.She is experienced in family, immigration, civil, employment, wills and estates matters. She can assist on severance, layoff and wrongful dismissal matters. She has regularly appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and Provincial Court of Alberta on family matters both in Morning Chambers and Domestic Specials. She also has succeeded in negotiations in both family law settlement meetings as well as written negotiations on employment and civil matters. Sania has a passion for client service and works hard to achieve economical and favorable results for her clients. She speaks and understands Urdu and Hindi fluently, and understands Punjabi as well.Sania is currently on the Law Society’s new Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee for a two-year term, working on addressing discrimination and harassment in the legal profession and how to encourage the retention of diverse lawyers in the profession. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the Association of Women Lawyers, Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, and Canadian Muslim Lawyer’s Association, as well as a regular volunteer lawyer for Calgary Legal Guidance. In her spare time away from work and volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, going on hikes, painting, and writing short stories.
