| Description | KAS PAVANANTHARAJAH joined Black Gropper as an associate lawyer in May 2016 after articling with our firm.Kas is a dedicated advocate with a commitment to the protection of unions and workers. Kas’s practice areas include labour law, employment law, human rights law, privacy law and administrative law. During her articles with the firm, Kas gained practical experience in relation to advising and litigating cases in all these practice areas.Kas graduated cum laude with a law degree from the University of Ottawa, however, she spent her last year studying law at the University of British Columbia. While at the University of Ottawa, Kas was an active member of the student body. She was an executive member of Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers (CARL), and the student chapter of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF), where she organized and delivered workshops on recognizing and addressing harassment at work.Prior to attending law school, Kas graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University, majoring in Criminology. While studying for her Criminology degree, Kas volunteered for a number of organizations, including West Coast LEAF and the Alternatives to Violence Project, where she practiced restorative justice in BC prisons.Kas maintains memberships with the BC CBA’s Labour, Privacy and Social Justice Subsections, serving as the treasurer for the Social Justice sub-section this past year. She is also a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers (CALL). |
