Description | I take a client-focused approach to each file I take on, and endeavour to find practical and realistic solutions for my clients. Whenever possible, I encourage my clients to use mediation and alternative methods to settle their disputes, but I am always prepared to go the distance and help my clients pursue their rights in court.
I have litigation experience in a variety of areas, though my primary focus is on employment law, commercial litigation, and administrative law. I also act for commercial creditors in commercial debt matters, and for both landlords and tenants in residential tenancy disputes. I have represented clients in the Provincial, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal in British Columbia, as well as at administrative tribunal hearings, in mediations, and at arbitrations. I am a roster mediator listed on the Mediate BC Civil Mediator Roster, and am always looking for opportunities to mediate civil disputes before or after claims have been started. I can advise on conflict management strategies, including workplace issues, and assist clients in facilitated negotiations. I am currently the Secretary of both the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation Subsections of the Canadian Bar Association British Columbia branch. I also serve on the Women Lawyers’? Committee of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. I volunteer with Access Pro Bono’s Civil Chambers program, and have been named as one of the program’s top 10 contributors the last three years. I was also honoured with the Allan Parker, QC Award for Representation Services. I am a part-time Tribunal Member at the Civil Resolution Tribunal, and am pleased to be able to further improve access to justice in British Columbia through the CRT. When not practicing law, I will likely be found writing, on stage, or somewhere that requires a plane and a passport. |
