| Description | A graduate of the joint J.D.-M.A. (International Affairs) program at the University of Ottawa and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carmen’s international trade practise focuses upon advising and representing clients with respect to import and export control matters, customs and sanctions compliance and trade litigation before the Canada Borders Services Agency (the “CBSA”) and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (“CITT”). Carmen has also assisted with the representation of clients in investment disputes pursuant to bilateral investment treaties, including the NAFTA, and in anti-dumping investigations and re-investigations pursuant to the Special Import Measures Act.
Within the Labour and Employment practise, Carmen assists employers with collective agreement-based arbitration, employment litigation, human rights and occupational health and safety issues. Her combined areas of expertise also cater specifically to the intersection of human rights considerations and the handling of controlled security and defence articles. |
